The Academy Is...

The Academy Is...
Albums by year released

Album: The Academy (Self Titled EP)
Artist: The Academy
Released: March 24, 2004
(later changed to The Academy Is... due to copyright reasons)

The first album from The Academy Is..., at that time known at The Academy. At this time, the members were William Beckett (vocals), Mike Carden (guitar), Michael DelPrincipe (drums), AJ LaTrace (guitar), and Adam T. Siska (bass). Both Michael and AJ later dropped in 2005, where William, Mike, and Adam continued to play and are still remain in the band today.
The album is a starting point for them. While still experimenting with their sound before starting Almost Here, you can hear rougher notes throughout most songs. It's hard to criticize this album, it definitely doesn't compare to their later ones, but it just doesn't have the uniqueness The Academy Is... usually bring with them. For a first album, though, it's probably one of the best I've heard, but it doesn't have the catchy rhythms that you'll have stuck in your head. Based on lyrics, I'd say it's closer to Almost Here. Overall, I'd say 3 1/2 stars. My personal favorites would have to be tracks 4 and 5.
Tracks:
1. The Proverbial Unrest
2. The Author
3. Judas Kiss
4. In Our Defense
5. Dear Inceptor
6. Absolution

New Video Downloads Up!

After a few hours of uploading videos, I finally got about 9 new ones up, making a total of 12!

TO DOWNLOAD:
1. Go to http://www.aimini.net/ .
2. Above the search bar, there's a small member sign in button. Click.
3. Enter altmusic101@ymail.com into the member ID, and altmusic101 into the password. Click sign in. [Note: this is just a downloading user, please don't upload your own files to the sharing list]
4. In the search box at the top, type in altmusic101. Scroll through the videos.
5. When you find one you'd like to download, click the picture next to it, or the bolded title.
6. A new window will pop up. Don't worry if the giant window with the video isn't playing, sometimes it won't. This won't affect the download.
7. Scroll down the page. Go past 'send this as ringtone,' the tags, and past the embed coding and trackback coding (should be in boxes). Right below this, it will say free download here. Look closely, it's pretty small. If you've gotten to 'base info' you've gone too far.
8. Once you've found the download area, click on the title of the video (should be in gray letters). DO NOT click on free download, even,if it provides a working URL.

9. Once you've clicked the title, a small window will come up asking if you want to open or save the file or cancel the action. Click save.
10. Depending on your computer, the file might save differently. Just make sure to save it under the music folder in your computer. [Note: you don't have to save under the itunes folder for the video to come up on there]

Good job! Now just do the same with other videos you'd like!

TO GET UP ON ITUNES:
1. Open windows explorer (different than internet explorer)
2. Open your music folder, and find the video you previously downloaded.
3. Open itunes.
4. Click the video you want, and drag it into itunes, under the Library tab. (It's normal for all the links under [music, movies, tv shows, etc] to be highlighted blue)
5. Let go, and then click on movies.
6. Find your video. (Note: the video may have the name slightly varied to that of the actual name. Most likely it came up as the file name, so it depends how you saved it)
7. If you'd like to rename, right click the picture, click get info at the top, click the info tab at the top of the new window, and type in the new title, artist's name, album, etc.
8. If you want the video to appear as an actual music video and not a movie (like when you buy a video), go back to get info, and click the options tab. Under the volume adjustment and equalizer, click on the drop down menu next to media kind. Click on music video. Make sure to hit OK at the bottom right of the window once you're done to make sure it saves! Now the video will be under the music tab in your itunes library. However, the file in windows explorer will remain the same.

**If you changed the movie into a music video without changing the info, and can't find it in your itunes library, sort your music by date added. You might have to scroll over to see the column. Click on date added and it should display the newest things added to your library. (If it shows the oldest, click date added again). The most recent thing listed should be the video.

Enjoy! :)

CitizensFOB Mixtape: Welcome to the New Administration

Album: CitizensFOB Mixtape: Welcome to the New Administration
Artist: Various
Released: August 25, 2008
Are you a Fall Out Boy fan? Panic! at the Disco? Gym Class Heroes? The Academy Is...? Cobra Starship? Hey Monday? The Cab? The Hush Sound? How about just an overall music *cough* Decadance *cough* fan? I highly recommend this album (only available through online download).
I finally came around to putting it up, it took a good 45 min, but I'm sure for some of you, it's worth it.
Even if it came out over a year ago, a few melodies should be familiar to the newer music age, including the tune in Cobra Starship's intro (similar to The World Will Never Do off their newest album, Hot Mess) and even a Fall Out Boy demo soon to be released, with a few minor changes, off their greatest hits CD, Believers Never Die. Does ALPHAdog & OMEGAlomaniac ring any bells? Check out the full version off the CD on their site,
http://www.falloutboyrock.com/oldskool/ .
I must admit, this is a very well put together cd, every song leads into the next so smoothly, and it's nice to hear voices of band members rather than just their music. And honestly, who doesn't like to hear William Beckett's voice saying "Welcome to the New Administration" every few songs? :)
Along with a few demo versions, most songs on here are intros/interludes/outros/etc, with the exception of snippets. You'll notice most song snippets were off albums to be released sometime late summer/fall, or albums the came out recently before then. But even in these, they aren't exactly the same, Clinton Sparks remixes them. And speaking of remixes, any Suave Suarez fan out there would be glad to hear Automatic Eyes has a remix of his (it even features Tyga).
The album centers around not just the newest music to come from Decadance, or even the idea that Fall Out Boy has an upcoming release date. There's also the topic of the voting, the CD was even to be released November 4! (This was changed later on to December 16) Several times, you'll hear Obama mentioned, The Hush Sound even have a song called We Believe (in Barack Obama).
This is a must have for any fan of Fall Out Boy, or even if you're only a fan of one group listed above.

1. Intro - Guy Ripley
2. Interlude - Ludacris
3. ALPHAdog & OMEGAlomaniac - Fall Out Boy

Birthdays and Albums

Last Tuesday, The Academy Is... announced the release for their newest EP, Lost in Pacific Time, to be coming out the following Tuesday. I'm not quite sure what to expect from them, but it can be guranteed that if it's from TAI, it will exceed expectations.

Also in this week, All Time Low posted their newest video for Damned if I Do Ya (Damned if I Don't) on Wednesday, which also happened to be my birthday =) I must say, for All Time Low, this was a really, really good video. I'd give it 4/5 stars. You can watch it below, or download it with the link soon to be coming under the video.

Other new releases soon to be out include Paramore's new album, Brand New Eyes, due Sep 29, and Mayday Parade's Anywhere But Here set to come out on Oct. 6.

New name, new site

As you can see, I changed the name of this site as I found fitting. The URL also changed, so make sure to replace it if you have it saved under favorites. Speaking of change, I felt that this week's download should be relevant to how the site changed. And one of the best songs about change (in my opinion) would have to be That Green Gentleman (Things Have Changed) by Panic at the Disco. Click on the link below to download:
http://u.o.o.e.aimini.net/download/?fid=EoOuGCRqsU48f2e4UL7y&ref=http://www.aimini.net/search/?q=that+green+gentleman&sca=
In last week's news, Fall Out Boy came out with a video for Headfirst Slide Into Cooperstown... Several of you may have heard the strange stories about Pete Wentz spending the day with Brendon and Spencer from P!atD, but after watching this video, hopefully it will clear things up for you. =)

On the topic of Panic! at the Disco, their new song from the Jennifer's Body soundtrack, "New Perspective" premiered it's video last week. The song itself is a new step for Panic, more like AFYCSO then their most recent cd. With a catchy tune and instrumentals, this is a great song, but the lyrics definitely aren't as great as some of their older work. The band won't be the same without Ryan's lyrics, you just can't get over that. Onto the video, it starts off nicely, but at times through it, it does seem to wander more to the movie than the actual band. Near the end it starts to get better once again, finishing up nicely once it starts rewinding back. I'd rate it 3.5/5 stars. Not their best work, but it's a bit better than average.

Also in last week, We the Kings came out with a new single, "Heaven Can Wait" on Tuesday. In my opinion, it was great, a new sound for them, but it shows a new direction the band might be going into. The first verse or so did seem unfamiliar to most of their other music, but once the chorus started, it was clear this song could only be done by We the Kings. Overall, 4/5 stars.

Soon to come, Boys Like Girls cd is set to be released this Tuesday. If you haven't already, you can get their newest single, "She's Got a Boyfriend Now" by downloading the following link:
http://w.q.w.c.aimini.net/download/?fid=cWQwjvrD88Gjkjy3yCQF&ref=http://www.aimini.net/search/?q=she%27s+got+a+boyfriend+now&sca=

And a bonus to any Forever the Sickest Kids or The Rocket Summer fan, they recently announced a co-headlining tour. For all the info, click on the following link:
http://www.altpress.com/news/foreversummer.htm

That just makes, yet another, great show to watch. It seems that every great band is on tour this fall, but how to see them all?

New download (can't buy video on itunes!)

Most of you probably don't know who Stephen Jerzak is, but any Nevershoutnever! fan would enjoy his music. If you haven't heard the song 'Cute' by him, you're really missing out on something there. I've heard alot of cute love songs, but none come close to how adorable 'Cute' is.
"You're so sweet you put Hershey's out of business..."
If that doesn't make you just say 'awwww' then what can?

Today I found out there was a video for his song, however, it's not available on itunes, so if you want it, you'll have to get it from here! Yes, it may be a bit cheesy at parts, but how can you not like a video like this? Once you watch it, you'll love it! Guaranteed =)
Just use the same instructions as before to copy it into your itunes library.

New Haricut and a few bonus links!

Yesterday I got my haircut! Not just a a trim, or even a few inches, it's up to my shoulders now! I can't get a picture up here yet, but I can describe it. Think of Selena Gomez's new haircut, but a few inches longer, and with side bangs. Maybe not the best picture, but it looks better when you actually see it =)
Since I'm so happy, I figured I'd post a few links up here for free music video downloads! Hopefully you like them, these are some of my favorites! =)

More coming, but it takes a while to upload the videos! Keep checking back!

Please tell me if something is wrong with them!

To get onto your itunes library (may vary slightly depending on the computer)
1. Click on link and save it under music file as an m4v.
2. Once it's saved, open windows explorer and itunes.
3. Find your file in windows, and drag into itunes library. (If you can't find it in itunes, try 'open with...' and find itunes)
4. You're video file should be under the movies (right below music under library). If you want to have it recognized as a video, right click the picture, go to 'get info' and under the 'options' tab change the media kind to music video. Also, if you'd like to rename the video (sometimes it can get a bit funky with the file) in 'get info' under the 'info' tab, you can rename it.

If you don't understand something from above, or if you're computer is slightly different than mine, please let me know!

Now onto music, I forgot to mention in the last post, Boys Like Girls came out with yet another single, "She's Got a Boyfriend Now." Their new cd will be just as great as the singles, and it can be expected that they will have a more pop sound, and Martin's vocal range will expand. Already in the two released singles, you can hear him hitting higher notes that weren't in the previous cd. None the less, 16 days will pass soon enough =)

Haven't been on in forever!

Sorry, I've been really, really, really busy this past week! I can't recall when I last blogged, but I can say it was before the new Cobra Starship cd, meaning there's ALOT to catch up on.
On Monday, CS released their last and final Cobra cam =( But no worries, it may be their last but it's also their funniest yet! You won't be let down with this one =)
On the brightside, however, if Jack the camera guy won't be doing anymore Cobra cams, maybe he'll go back to doing TAI TV! We can hope! Speaking of The Academy Is... the tickets have been ordered and the concert is set! There's still a chance I might be skipping school that day, but it won't be for sure until closer til then.
Also on Monday, we picked up our new puppy! He's just the cutest thing, but he likes to bite- ALOT! My arm still hurts some :/ I'll try to get a picture up here with him, but it might be some time.
Tuesday.... Tuesday, Tuesday, Tuesday... one of the greatest days of the summer =) After picking up the cd, I spent about two hours in the back of my mom's car, waiting for my sister to finish her softball practice. It was torture, just plain torture, having the cd right infront of me but with no way to listen to it. I was going to bring my laptop even, but my mom said it wouldn't be that long....
Onto the cd itself, I will say that it is amazing, none less that what to expect from the Cobras, but it wasn't as good as ¡Viva la Cobra, in my opinion. A few songs do stand out, including Nice Guys Finish Last, Pete Wentz is the Only Reason We're Famous, Fold Your Hands Child, and The World Will Never Do. It's clear to see some of their songs were inspired by a few of their older albums, but the cd does bring a new vibe along too. It is definitely more provacative than their older albums, but you can still manage to hear their natural sound coming out. If you are thinking about buying the cd, I suggest going to purchase the hard copy itself, and then buying the Suave Suarez on Pleasure Ryland remix (for any true fans) on itunes, and also the Cash Cash remix, both of the song Good Girls Go Bad. If you're looking for the full deluxe cd, I have seen it at Hot Topic, but I suggest buying the hard copy either way if you plan on getting the cd. Once you have, you'll see my reasons why. =)
Not only did the Cobra Starship cd come out that day, along with that, Mayday Parade released a single. I haven't bought it yet, but the preview sounds pretty good. Although, it seemed like the comments weren't the best they could be. I guess it can't be for sure whether you'll like it or not until you end up buying it.
Not much else for news this week, but it has been said that the new Nevershoutnever! cd will come out sometime around Christmas. Until then, singles will be released every so often to help build up the release. Can't wait til it comes out!

Day: Sunday
Currently listening to: "Miserable at Best" by Mayday Parade (can't get over that song!)
Newest countdown (the concert): 59 days!

New FOB video!

Today, August 6th, is the day the new video for "What a Catch, Donnie" by Fall Out Boy came out! And after watching it, I must say it is some of their best work. I love how it's centered around Patrick, because in most videos it's a) with the whole band or b) just focused on Pete. But it's good to see someone else sharing the spotlight, and especially when it's someone like Patrick xD (quick story, speaking of him, yesterday I was talking to this girl and mentioned how much I like him, and she threatened to rip my arms off... *shrugs*). Anyways, continuing on with the video, it really is possibly their best work, when it actually comes down to the storyline. I haven't been able to get it on itunes, so I can't load it on here (I can't buy anything on there til we come home. For now I'm just downloading songs and saving them to my computer) But if you'd still like to see it, you can check out the link listed below:
http://www.mtvmusic.com/fall_out_boy/videos/391604/what_a_catch_donnie.jhtml
Now, onto what the video is actually about, in short terms, Patrick is stranded at sea on this small fishing boat. He goes on to befriend a seagull who landed onboard (it's so cute to see them together =D ). Later on, you'll see him fishing by the side, and his findings are memorable items from previous videos (ex, deer antlers [Sugar, We're Goin Down], striped jacket [Dance, Dance], a drum of Andy's, and the letters FOB [Thnks Fr Th Mmrs]). Just like the song lyrics near the end, it brings back memories from older albums. After discovering that, he looks out to see a sinking ship, and sees several people in nearby life boats. Helping them onboard, you can pick out Andy and Joe, and a few other famous people, but I'll leave the surprise for you =) In the very end, you see Pete going down with the ship (poor Pete!). But if you pay attention to the lyrics about halfway through the song, it says "they say the captain goes down with the ship..." Do you think it had any influence on the idea of the video?
Now, with the song, you'll hear previous FOB songs being played at the end, but it's not only Patrick singing. I don't think I've mentioned this on here before, the cd came out long before I started blogging =) but I'll still say it for those who don't know. Along with Patrick singing, there's also (just to name a few) Gabe Saporta, Travis McCoy, Brendon Urie, and William Beckett. How's that for a list? =)
Even if you aren't FOB's biggest fan, I recommend watching the video. I think you'll enjoy it, I know I did! =)

Day: Thursday
Currently listening to: Well, I've GOTTA listen to "What a Catch, Donnie" now!
Mood: happyhappyhappyhappy!!!!!

AP Tour!

Today tickets for the AP tour went on sale!!!! Featured artists on the tour include You Me at Six, The Secret Handshake, Set Your Goals, Mayday Parade, and last, but certainly not least, The Academy Is...! If I was to go, and I'm really, really hoping I can, I'd go mainly to see TAI, but don't get me wrong, the other groups are great too. I think the best part about all this is tickets are only$15!!!!!!! How amazing is that?!?!?! I really, really, REALLY want to go! I could afford it and everything, I mean, it isn't that much, I'm just doubting my parents would let me go. They wouldn't want to stay there with just a friend or two. It may be a bit different if a few friends went (I'm thinking about six) but I'm not sure if I have so many friends that could/would/want to go. There's two big complications to this though. There's two dates I might be able to go, October 14th in Los Angeles or October 16th in San Diego. Thing is, October 14 is a Wednesday, and I really don't think I'd be able to go on a schoolnight. The San Diego tour date is on a Friday, much better, but it's still a far drive. Gosh, why can't I just have a car? A little more than a year to go.... a little more....
So, I'm hoping, I have one friend who would completely 100% for sure want to go (yes, you Emily!) but it's not only my parents who are unsure. Hmmmm...
Anyways, if you want to read more about the AP tour, just click here: http://www.altpress.com/specials/theaptour/index.html You might just even find a group you like! Browse around and listen to the music there, I can gurantee you'll like it =)
