The Academy Is...

The Academy Is...
Albums by year released

Album: The Academy (Self Titled EP)
Artist: The Academy
Released: March 24, 2004
(later changed to The Academy Is... due to copyright reasons)

The first album from The Academy Is..., at that time known at The Academy. At this time, the members were William Beckett (vocals), Mike Carden (guitar), Michael DelPrincipe (drums), AJ LaTrace (guitar), and Adam T. Siska (bass). Both Michael and AJ later dropped in 2005, where William, Mike, and Adam continued to play and are still remain in the band today.
The album is a starting point for them. While still experimenting with their sound before starting Almost Here, you can hear rougher notes throughout most songs. It's hard to criticize this album, it definitely doesn't compare to their later ones, but it just doesn't have the uniqueness The Academy Is... usually bring with them. For a first album, though, it's probably one of the best I've heard, but it doesn't have the catchy rhythms that you'll have stuck in your head. Based on lyrics, I'd say it's closer to Almost Here. Overall, I'd say 3 1/2 stars. My personal favorites would have to be tracks 4 and 5.
Tracks:
1. The Proverbial Unrest
2. The Author
3. Judas Kiss
4. In Our Defense
5. Dear Inceptor
6. Absolution
